Australia's second-largest telecommunications company Optus has been the subject of a malicious cyber attack to this day. This attack is described as dangerous and of its kind due to the sensitivity of the information and the endangerment of millions of customers' personal information.

This attack is believed to have been carried out by criminal organizations or sponsored by hostile States.

If you are an Optus  customer, your personal information is your name, date of birth, telephone number, e-mail address, ID number, and driver's license.

The number of Optus  subscribers in Australia is 9.7 million.

So the company had to quickly thwart this attack.

Optus  confirmed that customer information may have been disclosed such as customers' names, date of birth, telephone numbers, email addresses, driver's licenses,s and passport numbers of some customers

Optus   assured its customers about payment details and password accounts are safe and not hacked, as well as private telephone services continued to operate without any harm.

Optus  said it will contact any customer it believes is at risk and provide third-party monitoring services

Also, Optus  will not send customers any emails or SMS to avoid hacks.


What should I do to protect my details?


Scamwatch provided advice to Optus  customers to secure their personal information by changing passwords for their personal accounts and activating multiple authentications of bank accounts to ensure that they are not hacked
