For the second time in 2022. Famous car maker "Ferrari" is being hacked
Ferrari said that some internal documents were posted online and that the luxury sports car maker was working to determine how this would happen, according to a newspaper report.
In an emailed statement, the company said it would implement all appropriate procedures as needed.
Ferrari added that it had no evidence of a breach of its regulations or the presence of ransom viruses, and stated that there had been no disruption in its work and operations.
Corriere Della Sera reported on Red Hot Cyber's website that Ferrari had been the victim of a cyberattack, and 7 gigabytes of documents, including internal documents, data sheets, and repair manuals, had been published.
It added that the alleged attack was carried out by the electronic RansomEXX gang.
Details of the alleged cyberattack emerged 4 days after the company's racing division announced a new partnership with cybersecurity firm Bitdefender.
The Romanian company became Ferrari's cybersecurity partner. As part of the transaction, the automaker will "explore and evaluate BT Defender's cybersecurity products and services for integration into its business."
Mattia Binotto, head of the Scuderia Ferrari team last week, said:
"We are pleased to embark on this new partnership with Bit Defender, with which we share values such as the highest level of technological efficiency, the pursuit of excellence in performance, and the culture of security."
If this latest attack proves real, it will be the second time Ferrari has been targeted by cybercriminals in 2022.
A few months ago, Ferrari announced an agreement with the Swiss blockchain company Velas Network to create non-replaceable codes (NFTs) for audiences, as a form of digital commerce. However, an online sub-domain belonging to Ferrari was hijacked, used to host a scam targeting non-replaceable codes, and lasted for several months before it was eventually removed.
